Welcome to our World

5 Years on

It's hard to believe that it was 5 years ago this weekend that we collected Chewie and Vader and brought them home. It has been a fantastic adventure over that time and the time has gone so quickly. Seeing and taking them out every day it's hard to believe that they were ever so small as in the picture on the left. They, and we, have made so many friends during out walks over the years - some we see often and others not so much but it is always great to catch up.

The last month has been hectic with lots of walks and people coming to visit. Thankfully Vader has not been limping as much as in the previous month. He has still been chasing cyrils and having long walks in the forest so it is good to see him running about freely. Saying that having a bit of a limp or a stiff leg doesn't make Vader any less happy. Chewie had a small operation on her foot which meant walking with a boot for a few days but it did not stop her chasing cyrils (she even managed to lose her boot chasing them a couple of times) and it did not take her long to recover. She did make some funny noises though when we brought her back from the vets which was amusing.

We look forward to many more adventures and we hope to be able to continue to share them.

A new video

We have added another video to our page of us playing in the garden. It's all good fun but I suppose it could be scary for some people to watch if they didn't know we were only playing. We have also changed the order of the videos so the newest appears first. Makes much more sense.

We have been having some good walks in the local park although we have not been allowed to chase too many cyrils as Vader has been limping a bit. If you follow us on twitter you will know that we like to chase them but with as there can be lots of twisting and turning we think that has made him a bit sore. There has been hardly any cyrils all summer but in the last week or so we have seen loads. Vader still goes for acupuncture every month or so but sometimes even that is not enough to stop him from limping if he goes really mad running about.

Another year older

It was our Birthday yesterday and we are now 5. We had a good day and got some nice presents. Our footballs did not last very long before they were popped but we still have all our other new toys in one piece and lots of new tennis balls.

It is all change in the garden as we have a new fence up so we won't be able to escape as easily now to chase foxy.

We have added a new gallery of some Birthday photos - hope you enjoy them.

Summer Hols 2010

Ham common picture
We had a great time on our holidays this year. We went down to Dorset for a week and had lots of fun at the seaside and the forest. Every morning we went for a walk at Ham common and then after a short rest we went off for a longer walk.

We went to the New Forest a couple of times and even though we had a map (not a very good one) the first time we went we managed to get a little bit lost. Not that we minded very much as it meant that we spent longer exploring. The second time we went we had a guide book that had lots of different walks so we managed a nice longish walk that involved not getting lost and a nice stop in Burley for lunch. We were even supplied with a nice bowl of fresh water at our lunch stop. It was nice and shady as well which helped us cool down. On our walks we saw a couple of deer, only one rabbit but lots of ponies. We had fun looking for rabbits but it must have been too hot for them.

Playing in the sea
We also went to the seaside a couple of days. Sandbanks was our favourite as we could run about on dog part of the beach without being on a lead. We had fun chasing the ball in the sea as it cooled us off. Not the biggest beach in the world but great fun. We also went to Studlands one day which has a huge beach. We didn't go on it though doggies must be on a lead on the beach in the summer. Such a shame as we could have had so much fun. We had to take a ferry to get there which was fun and we did manage to have a long walk from near the ferry through the sand dunes to the visitor centre and then back again. We saw one rabbit on our walk. As we were not allowed on the beach we stopped at Sandbanks on the way back to have a swim.

Every evening we saw Foxy, who was a big tease as we were on the decking and could not chase him. He kept wandering past us but we don't think he as that brave as he had disappeared when we went for our last walk every evening.

Thank you Uncle Dennis for letting us use your holiday home! Can we come back next year?

It's been a while

It has been quite a long time since our last blog.

We have not really been doing anything too exciting, which you will know if you have been following us on Twitter. Life has been pretty quiet after the excitement of our holiday and even though Daddy had some time off at the end of May we didn't go any long walks. Chewie has had a cut pad so we didn't want to go on the beach incase the sand aggravated it and the rough ground may also have hurt her if we went to the forest. Thankfully the pad has healed so we have made it to the forest the last few weekends. We had some good walks and also saw quite a few bunny rabbits. You may just be able to make them out in this picture.

Bunny Rabbits

Both puppies have been under the weather in the last couple of weeks. Both managed to get a bug that laid them low for a while with Vader coming off the worse. Apart from being a little car sick Vader has never really caught any bugs so we think it was a huge shock to him and he really wasn't sure what was happening. He seemed so sad and also embarrassed that he had been sick. It took him about 5 days to get back to his usual happy self and thankfully he seems to be well on the way to recovery. Chewie seemed to recover much more quickly from her sickness but she is still on her special food ( make that expensive special food) and she now has different treats as well that will hopefully not upset her stomach.

More holidays

Chewie looking out window
We have added some photos from our holiday in Lanark.

Vader resting in front of the window
Our trip up was exciting as we saw and chased some red deer at a service station on the way up. Although a long journey we had a couple of walks on the way there but managed to get quite dirty. Thankfully we had dried off by the time we got there and were allowed in the house.

Chewie looking round
We had some fantastic long walks up there and Daddy bought some cards when we were at the Heritage Centre in New Lanark. We also met up with Lucy and had fun playing with the ball. She is very fast and will run all day chasing her ball.

A while since we updated the blog

It has been a while since we updated the blog but of course you could have been following us on twitter.

Slim Line Chewie looking for a cyril
January was fun but Vader has been limping a bit more. Not sure if it is down to the cold damp weather playing havoc with his arthritis or the fact that he has put on a little weight -just a kg or 2. That has meant not as many long walks and not chasing the ball as much. Chewie has kept her weight off but she has also been back at the vets with a reoccurrence of a problem she had last year. Hopefully that will get sorted out as well.

Daddy has some time off next week so hopefully we may get a trip to the seaside.
